Cortical processing of sensory input
Cortical processing of sensory input

Cortical circuits underlying sensory processing

Cortex does not passively process sensory input. Rather, incoming sensory information is dynamically processed and routed to higher cortical regions depending on our behavioral goals.

We want to know how particular cell types (such as cortical interneurons) influence the processing and routing of sensory inputs. We are particularly interested in the effects of targeted inhibition on dendritic processing, and how this may influence neuronal responses.
